We are now over half way through our tour of the university recruitment and law fairs. So far we’ve visited 12 universities from across the country, with trips to Sheffield, Exeter and Kings College still to look forward to.

We’ve had an enthusiastic response to our new campaign which tells you how we’ll help you become the lawyer you want to be. Here are my top tips for how to stand out from the crowd at the fairs:

 - Do some research on the firms you are interested in before you attend the fair – you don’t need to have memorised the entire contents of the firm’s graduate website, but just have a few key facts which shows that you’ve made an effort.

 - Think about what information you need to get from the firms to help you decide whether you will be applying or to help you complete their application form. It’s not necessarily about asking the cleverest question, but making sure you get the information you need.

 - Don’t be afraid of approaching firms that you’ve not heard of before. One word of caution, don’t make the mistake of saying you do know about the firm, as it might become clear that you don’t! It does happen!

 - Make a good first impression – introduce yourself and ask your opening question.

 - Don’t be afraid to ask to take someone from the firm’s contact details and offer to leave your details.

 - Finally, see the fair as the great opportunity it is – a large number of some of the top law firms, all together in one room, ready to answer your questions. Make the most of it!

If you’ve missed us at a law fair, you can still find out lots of information or ask us a question via our graduate website: www.wragge.com/graduate or by following us on facebook: www.facebook.com/wraggegraduate and twitter: twitter.com/wraggegraduate
